The Census Bureau is hiring 700,000 people
nationwide for the 2010 census, positions
that include managers, clerks and census
takers at a rate of $13 to $17 an hour.
I know analysts are predicting that [the job market] will probably be flat for 2009 graduates; the unemployment rate keeps increasing," said Andrea Koncz, a NACE researcher."But governments have a lot of positions to fill. I know they've had those openings for a long time now."
President–elect Barack Obama said he's
planning to introduce an economic recovery
program that would create 2.5 million
jobs by January 2011.
Last year state and local governments spent an average of 51% more per employee on benefits and compensation than private-sector employers did, or £39.50 per hour worked versus £26.09, according to the Employee Benefits Research Institute. And the disparity continues to grow.
